Meet Our Principal
Kelli Barrios received a B.A. in Elementary Education and M.S. in Educational Leadership from St. Thomas University in Miami, FL. Additionally, she earned her National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certificate as a Middle Childhood Generalist in 2008. As a certified educator in ESE K – 12, Elementary 1st – 6th, ESOL, and Educational Leadership, she taught for over 20 years with Broward County Public Schools in grades 2nd – 8th with a strong focus in ESE Inclusion, mathematics, and science. She also served as a team lead and literacy coach. Kelli was recognized as a BCPS Social Studies Teacher of the Year in 2013.
Mrs. Barrios started her administrator career in 2019, serving as the assistant principal at The Charter School at Waterstone in Homestead, FL for three years. She is currently in her second year as the principal at The Charter School at Waterstone. A strong advocate for student engagement and reflective teaching, she instills a positive culture and climate among her staff, student body, and community to achieve academic excellence.

The mission of the Charter School at Waterstone, in partnership with students, family and community, is to provide a safe school environment that allows us to develop curious individuals who are active and engaged learners in an ever-changing world by challenging all students as they travel along their personalized pathway.
ACCREDITATION
The Charter School at Waterstone is a Cognia accredited educational institution. Accreditation through Cognia indicates that rigorous and comprehensive curriculum with an emphasis on excellence in math and science has met rigorous, research- based standards of educational excellence to ensure the education program offered at The Charter School at Waterstone meets the needs of learners through proficiency in Leadership Capacity, Learning Capacity, and Resource Capacity. Using these standards, The Charter School at Waterstone targets areas in each domain for continuous improvement in creating student success.
